On Wednesday, Atlanta Braves star outfielded Ronald Acuna Jr. made MLB history, stealing his 70th base of the season during the Braves 6-5 over the visiting Chicago Cubs. This milestone steal made Acuna the first player in baseball history to hit at least 40 home runs and steal 70 bases in one season.
Acuna is the clear favorite for the National League MVP Award, as he leads Major League Baseball in both steals and hits and is top five in batting average and home runs.
Atlanta wraps up the 2023 regular season with a three-game series against the Washington Nationals; having already clinched the top seed in the National League, Atlanta has little to play for besides a chance at the single-season team home run record. The Braves have hit a combined 304 home runs during the 2023 campaign, and with three games to play are only three home runs shy of the Minnesota Twins 2019 record (307).
