Interim principal Wesley Hatfield made the decision to change Class Color Day shirts from different colors for every grade to all gray for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. The class shirt for seniors will remain blue. The refashioning comes as part of a continuation of efforts by school administration over the past few years to crack down on “bullying” that occurs as a result of upperclassmen “tagging” underclassmen with class colors on Class Color Day.

Spanish department holds inaugural cultural heritage event

Spanish music echoed throughout the cafeteria on Oct. 26, 2018 as the Decatur Spanish department held the first Spanish Heritage Performances. The event featured Decatur musicians, actors and athletes as they came together to create shows honoring Latin American culture.

On the way back from a robotics competition, Harper Rhett suggested to his friend Will Sebelik that they start a rocketry club. A month later, alongside their friend and first member, Josh Torrance, they started Vulcan Rocketry and Aviation with a goal of building a model rocket that could fly 100 feet into the air.
