Song of the week: Marmalade
More stories from Sophia DeLuca
Chirpy, bright piano opens up Macklemore and Lil Yachty’s new single “Marmalade.” The cheerful sound bounces through the song making me agree wholeheartedly with Lil Yachty when he says, “Whoa this beat so happy I will never frown.”
Macklemore sings: “I be riding through the town, my music loud,” and when I’m listening to this song, there’s no place I’d rather be than “in my car, the windows down.”
Macklemore’s style is reminiscent of “Thrift Shop,” with upbeat lyrics which seem to be mimicking the number 1 hit formula while adding something new and fresh: Lil Yachty’s sound.
Lil Yachty brings a carefree, flirtatious element, similar to his performance in “iSpy“.
If you’ve got the back to schools blues, or just need a break from the long hours of homework give “Marmalade” a listen, Macklemore and Lil Yahcty will guarantee you won’t regret it.
