SGA announces new plan for Homecoming week
After much speculation, the Student Government Association (SGA) has come to a decision on how Homecoming will take place this year. According to the SGA, many events usually done during Homecoming week have been cancelled or changed. While float building, the parade, and the Homecoming game will still take place as usual, albeit with some precautions to protect from COVID-19, other events have been cancelled. The dance has been cancelled, as well as hall decoration, in both cases a concern for COVID was cited as a reason for the cancellations. Homecoming has also been moved up from October to the week before the first school break in mid-September.
The details of the class colors and days have yet to be determined, but the days will include themes such as fictional character day, decades day, and blue and gold day. The theme of Homecoming week as a whole will be The Wizard of Oz. Finally, Thursday and Friday of this new Homecoming week will be half-days.
Here is the tentative schedule for the week of homecoming:
Monday: Wizard of Oz day / fictional character day
Tuesday: Decades day
- Seniors are 2000s
- Juniors are 1990s
- Sophomores are 1980s
- Freshmen are 1970s
Wednesday: “Wellness Wednesday” Pajama Day
Thursday: Class Color Day
- Red and Green have been removed as colors of the class shirts
Friday: Blue and Gold Day
