Boys Soccer loses in penalty kicks in Final Four game

May 9, 2018

The boys soccer team was defeated by McIntosh at home on Tuesday, 5-4 on penalties after a scoreless 90 minutes of open play. Had the Bulldogs won, they would have competed in their second state championship in three years.

Decatur possessed the ball for the majority of the game, and had a few solid chances saved by the Chiefs’ sophomore keeper. Senior Joshua Sumo had a free kick stopped and junior Sebastian Allowitz had several dangerous crosses throughout regular time.

In overtime, senior Nate Evans powered a shot just over the crossbar, and classmate Abdiaziz Yussuf had a rebound saved in the last minute of the final overtime period.

Despite not recording a shot on target, McIntosh scored all five penalties to secure their spot in Friday’s final at Mercer.
