On Thursday December fifth at 9:14 AM, Decatur High School (DHS) was evacuated due to a reported gas leak. However, the Decatur Fire Department has confirmed the concerning smell was due to an activated prank device mimicking a gas smell.
DHS students were quickly evacuated to the PAC, where they remained for approximately 40 minutes. The increment raised concerns due to frequent gas leaks during the 2023-2024 school year.
