Ebola hits home for the Leone Stars

While in Cameroon, the Leon Stars must take a breakfast and dinner temperature screening for Ebola.

As the Ebola health crisis intensifies in western Africa, the Sierra Leone national soccer team faced difficulties while traveling and playing in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Fans screamed “Ebola,” mocking the Leone Stars as they played. Some teams even debated whether to shake hands with the Leone Stars after a match or trade jerseys.

“You feel humiliated, like garbage, and you want to punch  someone,” John Trye, a reserve goalkeeper, said after hearing  “Ebola” shouted at the players during a training session  Thursday. “No one wants to have Ebola in their country. Sierra Leone is struggling. And they shove it in our face. That’s not  fair.”
