Many people, including Jewish people, call the candelabra used in Hanukkah candle lighting a menorah. However common, this usage of menorah is incorrect. The candalabra used to hold Hanukkah candles is actually called a Hanukkiah. The Hannukiah holds nine candles, one for each night of Hanukkah plus a center candle used to light the others. A menorah holds seven candles and in the story of Hanukkah, the menorah was the lamp that miraculously stayed lit for eight days instead of one in the miracle of Hanukkah.
