DO YOU AGREE WITH THE MLB’S NEW ONE-GAME WILD CARD PLAYOFF?

Yes (Sam Levy)
Major league baseball has been criticized in the recent past for having too many games and losing the interest of fans. The one-game playoff system introduced this year will generate high levels of excitement. This system will also dictate who deserves to be in the playoffs. Baseball is a game of pressure, and the team that can overcome this pressure to win a one-game playoff deserves to play in the postseason.

No (Wilson Witherspoon)
An MLB season consists of 162 games over six months. Clearly, the format is designed to reward teams that perform better in the long haul, and having a one-game playoff doesn’t honor that spirit. Even the World Series is seven games long, so why would a playoff decision merit just one game? Also, the playoff devalues the regular season, since the game puts a team with a better record on level ground with a worse team. All of the better team’s wins even up being absolutely meaningless.
