On April 11, the DHS girl’s varsity soccer team recorded a big playoff win beating Harris County 2-0.

Freshman McKenzie Godfrey, who was promoted to the varsity team after beginning the season on the JV squad, scored both goals.

The game tested the Bulldogs according to Godfrey. “It was pretty close for most of the game, although we did have possession down in their half a lot more than they did.”

DHS watched a difficult regular season end with a record of 5-9, but this victory has the team headed in a positive direction. The next playoff game will be Monday, April 17 against Greenbrier High in Evans, Georgia. The team hopes to continue winning and have a shot at becoming regional champions.

“We will continue to work on things such as communication since I still am not completely familiar with everybody’s playing style, but I am excited to continue to get closer to this team,” said Godfrey.
