On Tuesday, Oct. 24, six Decatur High School(DHS) students competed in the Atlanta-Metro Skills Competition.

The event prepares students for the Georgia Skills USA competition, a competition that works to train students to build a skilled workforce.

DHS seniors Mika Wolf and Sam Coblin competed in blueprint reading. Seniors Thomas Butterfield and Benjamin Howard competed in welding. Senior Lila Wietsma and Sophomore Jacob Enfinger competed in fine furniture. The students placed second in fine furniture, blueprint reading and welding.

“I chose to compete because I had an interest in the activity, and wanted to go and meet like-minded people,” Coblin said.
