A killer opening

Decatur residents are anxiously awaiting Grindhouse Killer Burgers, a restaurant slated to open acrossyah from the high school this month.

With four other locations in-state, Grindhouse Killer Burgers is still very much a Georgia chain. According to public relations practitioner Tori Allen, Grindhouse Killer Burgers Decatur will have the same menu as the other four locations.

“There will be two-level seating,” Allen said. However, the upstairs patio will be for customers over the age of 21.

Grindhouse won various awards in the past few years, including Best Veggie Burger in the Atlanta publication Creative Loafing. Thrillist gave them a spot in their “The Best 10 Burgers in Atlanta” list, with their Cowboy Burger coming in sixth place.

Decaturish reported that Grindhouse had a tentative opening date of summer 2015, which was pushed back to January 2016. Since then, a tentative date of April 2016 was projected. While this date was not met, Decatur residents have observed the immense amount of progress that has taken place.

Greer Sanders, a junior at DHS, is among the students who have looked forward to opening day for months.

“I’ve been waiting for it to open all year,” Sanders said.

She hopes Grindhouse will draw a crowd, and she “thinks it’s going to be a lot like Marco’s in the way that a lot of students will go there after school.”

Grindhouse is now taking applications for all positions.
