Decatur’s Got Talent
February 20, 2016

On January 25th, Patrick and Thomas Russell held the first ever Decatur’s Got Talent in the Performing Art Center. They did this as their sophomore project. This idea was originally Patrick’s but he didn’t want to do it so Thomas took over.
There were four musical performances and one spoken word poem. The musical performances were by Eden Biltoft, Erika Kulers, Nelson Jones and the band Human race which had Erika Kulers, Nelson Jones and Max Moore. Eden Biltoft performed two self written songs called “Shaken” and “Mixtape,” Erika Kulers performed “Carol of the Bells” on piano, Nelson Jones performed “Hallelujah”, and Human race performed two songs, “House of the Rising Sun” and “Can’t help falling in love with you.” The spoken word poem was written and performed by Faiza Haji and the poem was called “Lost in the Cause.”
In the end, Human Race came in second along with Faiza Haji for a $20 prize split between them. Then Eden Biltoft came in first place with her two original songs for a prize of $50.
